I don't want to tear up the board or bury checkers by clearing the 8 point. Clearing the 17 leaves 15 shots while clearing the midpoint only leaves 11. It will be easier to clear the midpoint later if we clear the 17 now and behind in the race we want to maintain contact so holding the midpoint seems thematic. Is it worth the extra four shots?

Not sure, but I'll clear the 17 - 17/13 17/12.
