The obvious difference between backgammon and chess is that in chess you don't nave Mr. Dice forcing you to make moves that collapse your position.

Here, this doesn't seem like a bad roll. 4/2*/1 should win more gammons, but does it win more games? And if it wins more gammons but fewer games, are the gammons enough?

Clearing the six now would seem to be the DMP play. Is it better than the gammonish play? It may well win more gammons because it wins more games. I'll clear the six.
