We have to contain White's checker; if the straggler escapes then it's game over. I would play 5/4* 5/2; only 65 from the bar will escape immediately. Sure, this breaks our prime and it would nicer if we could roll our prime cleanly, but we can't do that without giving White more immediate winners. Attacking and closing out White's checker is another viable way to contain it, and that seems to be a more promising approach given this position and roll.
