In Response To: Someone once wrote a whole book about playing 31 in the opening (Timothy Chow)

I don't think I read that book.

Blue is ahead in the race and white has the stronger board so a safe play is called for. Making the five point works great when it works, but exposing a double shot seems too loose. That seems to leave either stepping up both runners or the pick and pass play. Pick and pass seems safer (and also bolder) so I'll do that. 6/3*/1
