I don't think volunteering a shot is the right idea - sometimes it is, but white's board is too strong. 8/1 6/5 stacks a sixth checker on the four while 6/1 does not. OTOH, 8/1 6/5 leaves blue even ended while the other play leaves blue odd ended. I'll go with 6/1 to avoid the stack, but without much conviction. Probably not a lot of equity difference between the two.
