Backgamee bearin play

My main objection to Toad/Snake is that it's not obvious which player is which. I was guessing that Snake was the backgamer because the backgamer remains coiled and ready to strike, after which his hidden snake-like nature is revealed plainly. Also, one of my playing partners uses "Toad" to refer to someone who plays safe, which sounds more like the backgamee than the backgamer.

Todd may be a famous backgamer but I've never heard of him.
