Yes. In fact, I should have mentioned that even if, in backgammon, scoring more than one point per game were not possible, then a match length of 4 points would correspond to a "best of 7" series in (say) baseball. These differing ways of describing the length of the contest surely contribute to the confusion surrounding this topic.
