Hitting on the deuce point buries a checker deep, but two on the bar is two on the bar, and against a 3 point board only nine shakes enter both. And then there's the chance to pick up a third checker.

Yeah, whacking two leaves seven blots. That's ok. There will be two on the bar. Whack two.
