I've always felt that Rose got caught in between sliding and coming in high, and semi-stumbled into Fosse.

As Rose himself says in interviews "I started to slide head first but Ray had the plate blocked and I'm not going to break both of my collar bones and you never slide if you can't read the plate. I went over him and tagged the plate with my right hand and I guess my knee hit his shoulder."

Pete Rose once said that one of his favorite records is that he played in more wins than any player in MLB history.

Yes, you can tell Pete is proud of his Cal Ripken like Iron Man status. I believe he missed 11 games in all of the 1970s and 3 of them were due to the play we just talked about! If you play the most it's kind of likely you'll win the most. Granted, you still have to be on a decent team etc...but the reason I didn't put most games played or most at bats or most singles in my listing of his stats is personally I don't find it that impressive. He did it for a long time and in doing it for a long time he accumulated these stats. Ok.

One of my favorite Pete records that isn't a Pete record is that in the 17 All Star Games he played in for the National League the NL won 16 of them.
