Ahead in the race by ~20 pips means playing safe by leaving no shots is thematic. OTOH, white has no board so no reason to be timid.

I'll slot the five point with the ace and step up to the midpoint with the five. 13/8 6/5 may be the bot move, and that looks about as good, it's just that with the race lead, playing from the rear looks slightly better. 8/3 removes the spare/builder so it doesn't jive will with slotting, plus why bury one that deep this early?
