PotD 10/1/24 - Rollout Surprise

Unfortunate only two people responded but fortunate they both made the normal, human play. Maybe people thought the choice here was between playing safe with 13,2 or slotting 13, 5 but when the opponent has no new inner board points + no offensive structure even with a decent race lead in a long game like this we're going to take some minor 'risks' to improve our position along the way. The safe play is a near blunder on ++.
Turns out the question isn't if we slot, but where we slot! The plays are close enough that it hardly matters but interesting to see. I'm past the point where I'll try to figure out why 7 is better than 5 but am still tickled when I see such odd looking plays.
