What if it were a fair coin flip instead of a -1/37 roulette spin? You still reach 0 chips eventually with probability 1 (right?), but your expected number of flips to do so (using your same approach) would be 6/0.

I guess this is correct (maybe your short series where you reach 0 quickly are more than balanced by the series where you start off winning and take a long time to lose your chips back) but seems unintuitive to me.

(I obviously agree with your roulette solution, I’m just confused about the extension to a fair coin flip).
