It's the early game and your opponent has made no offensive progress. The game is simple, hit blots, make points, escape checkers generally in that order. If something quiet like 22, 9 is correct I can't make that distinction and more importantly, I won't. It's far more likely that if we divert from the aforementioned order of operations without clear cut reason we will make a (larger) error whereas if we stick with the plan it isn't likely that if we happen upon an exception our error will be much of a big deal at all.

9, 5 is worth a glance but how the back checkers are arranged would make me discard it. If our back checker was already on the 21pt instead of the 22pt therefore duplicating twos and fours with the slotting play then I'd make it.
