In Response To: Dice Cheating in Cyprus? (pierrez)

"Are we sure the video (in the link) is related to the cheating action?"

With the Goteborg Backgammon site that hosted the FB post, and Jesper Carlsson named as the one who had reposted Fuat Erdag's OP, it seemed genuine to me. But the doubts you go on to raise suggest that they, the several who commented on the post, the several more who variously 'liked' the post, and Petter Bengtsson who provided the link on BGonline, all - like me - didn't notice anything to be awry.

"The name (in the video) of one of the player doesn't match any of the names in the title or in the description of the video ?"

I hadn't noticed that both players were named further down; only noticing that, in the video, the player switching dice was not named, unlike his opponent.

"Furthermore, isn't stupid for the cheater to switch dice for a die with two 5, when your opponent is in a 12 back game (according to the video) with bad timing and at the time he just closed his 5 point ?"

The 12 back game with poor timing you refer to is not relevant here. What is relevant is that having just made his 5 point, as you point out - but also on Red's head - Red most certainly does not want to dance. So, well spotted, once again. However, it does state in the post: "The guy on the right sits with a small "stash" of dice, some have 2 5s..."

So, it might be possible that this video was a case of where dice with other numbers were switched in, with only the gaffed '55' dice being discovered later.

If the accused player, Armen Khachatryan, who - unnoticed by me, was specifically named in the post - is not one who has been found to introduce gaffed dice, then I apologise for how I referred to him. If, however, he is, I most certainly do not.
