XG crashing on desktop

Your processor has 24 threads. In XG, open Options->Settings->Main Settings. Set "Number of Threads" to 22. Then you have 2 threads free for doing other stuff on the computer while your rollout is running. No need to change the priority of the XG process to Low.

I have not experienced crashes, so can't help you there.
