Live Cube Take Point

What I am saying in the following is not exactly how the live cube take-point is calculated but I hope it will help getting the basic idea...
Also, in the following I only consider a gammon- and backgammonless scenario.
In your examlpe of 5away-5away, the dead cube take-point for the opponent if you take the 2 cube and redouble to 4, is between about %24(live) and %28(dead), let's call it %26. So if you get to %74 you can redouble him out.
Your dead cube take point at 5a-5a is about %24, so you only need %24 to reach at %74 (where you can redouble the opponent out) to take the initial cube. Now,assuming the perfect cube efficiency hypothesis (continuous model) you get at %74, %24 times 0.74 which is %17.76 ,about the %18.11 XG reports as your live cube take-point for the initial cube to 2 at 5a-5a.
I have no idea how to include gammons and backgammons in the calculations.
