Value of cube ownership vs. value of cancel ownership

This is very interesting indeed. I don't have any examples to offer but I would guess that it would happen quite often.
This becomes a question of value of cube ownership vs. value of cancel ownership. In effect you would be giving a cube with "discounted/partial ownership value", while holding a deterrent against getting cubed back.
So, the question is: will canceling a lucky roll really reduce luck in gamblegammon? or how often (than not) will it backfire to end up augmenting luck instead?
