Hi MK -

I don't have any logical explanation for you. I did not invent the game. Phil Simborg is the creator. Out of curiosity, have you tried playing the game? You might find it enjoyable and challenging as is.

Frankly, I was surprised to get a response. The only comments I'll make for now is that Simborg may be the "creator" of this half-ass version of "cancelgammon" but definetely not the creator of the idea which apparently goes back to 1974.

Since then, various better versions of it have been suggested but never got past being tried by a few people only a few times among themselves. What is new is that it was played in gambling tournaments for the first time apparently only since 2024
