Behind in the race, having an anchor, lonely straggler all speak for attack. So I'd rule out 10/5 first as too passive and choose between hit now or block by making the 9.

Making the 9 exposes to 1s but some of them are good anyway and White would break the midpoint to hit so that's not very problematic. I think strategic considerations of creating a more potent blockade, especially when White's structure is crippled due to a point behind Blue's anchor, makes this move very strong.

Hitting now is strong due to a lot of checkers in the zone and not worse home board.

I don't know, so I'd go with a rule of thumb to hit when in doubt.
I feel the hit rates to be a smaller potential mistake than the 9pt, too.
