Most famous backgammon player?

To clarify, in my initial post I was meaning famous in a world wide sense and not a 1970s in UK sense or in a UK sense.

My quick poll results, of a USA college class, were 0 out of 9 said they knew who Roger Moore was/is. 5 out of 9 said they knew who Mick Jagger was/is. I will ask a couple other classes on Monday.
