The Hoover photo is pretty hilarious. Imagine how annoying that would be to play a game of bg with the board like that.

As for the Burns/Allen photo...we can actually make an excuse for it. (even though I'm sure that's not what happened) The dice are on her side of the board so it's her turn and she already moved her checker(s) with likely a big doubles roll. It's just now she's coming back to pick up the checker she hit and put it on the bar.

What disturbs me most since you made me look at the first page of these pix is that Hef, my actual backgammon player, let himself be photographed with that ridiculous set up!?

If I could go back in time from when I started bg and keep track of every instance I've seen it in a tv show, magazine, movie, historical place, etc...I would. What we've all seen though is that often and infuriatingly, the boards are set up with some nonsense.
