The opening book for 21 has splitting and slotting basically tied. For later moves, my rule of thumb is to avoid slotting if it's more dangerous than it would be for the opening (e.g. opponent has split or made a second homeboard point).
Here, we can slot and make the three point anchor so slotting should be sound, and a bit better than "splitting".
If you play the usual slot (13/11 6/5) you lose the safety of the anchor, and also run afoul of Magriel's admonition to avoid splitting and slotting simultaneously.
Score might matter since slotting tends to win more gammons and the gammon value at 2a 3a is elevated.
