"I'm not interested in mandating baffle boxes" J.L.

Neither am I. In fact I'm quite strongly opposed to it. I have never proposed it, including here.

"I am interested in random rolls, and anybody who chooses to not use a baffle box is still enjoined to shake the bones before rolling." J.L.

Yes, and many don't. Or they do so improperly, or insufficiently. Looking in the cup also happens. With rolling from cups there are other areas that can be very grey indeed - including whether both dice bounced and rolled freely, or perhaps one or both didn't roll anywhere? Or did one die hit the board before the other left the cup? You may be someone who is assertive in pointing out irregularities - or possible ones - but there are many who are not. I am sure some players used to, but then stopped after they had one or more bad experiences. So much easier to buy a baffle box, lug it along, and be able to say that you want both to use it.

"Time pressure does not relieve anybody of that responsibility." J.L.

Absolutely. It merely increases the likelihood that some will not fulfil it.

Back to the enquiries in my OP, are there any valid ethical arguments why 1) and 2) should not apply?
