How many additional backgammons does blue win with 4 vs 5 checkers remaining on the board? He needs to be missed (70%) and then roll doubles (18%) so about a twelve and a half percent chance, making some broad assumptions.

Meanwhile, the safe play wins 100% of games and 100% of them are gammons, with a small number of backgammons. Ripping off two reduces both those rates by a lot, so I'm highly skeptical that it's worth the risk.

Clear the deuce point.
