Example video of XG animating moving checkers

Jason Lee: checker does not teleport instantly to the
destination. XG animates moving it.Bob Koca: Have you looked at: Settings -> Options ->
Board Configuration -> Checker Speed? If one is allowed to be pedantic, this doesn't solve
Jason's problem. That setting only adjusts the "speed
of animation", (even if down to a blink of an eye), but
it doesn't "teleport", (some may need to look up what
that means), checkers instantly without animation. But one can have much more fun experimenting with the
"checker speed" in XG and "animation speed" in GnuBG;
as I had done for posting a few videos of my 100-game
sessions that I had won against both bots, since some
visible animation is needed for the sake of viewers.GnuBG has a "None" animation setting which sounds like
"teleporting" but it's only a quick way to select the
fastest speed, which is about the same as XG's lowest.GnuBG's slowest selection is about XG's 1700-1800 but
animation settings only apply to opponent's checkers,
(perhaps a bug?).XG allows a maximum slowness value of 10,000 which is
almost eerie to watch, if you've ever tried.Unlike GnuBG's slider, XG uses scrolling arrows but
have you noticed that they either multiply or divide
by two whatever value, (from 1 to 10,000) is in the
input box at the time you click on the arrows?Another interesting difference between the two bots
is that XG moves the checkers in straigt lines while
GnuBG moves them in cannonball trajectories. :)A keen observation to see all such details may be a
natural gift or an acquired skill but it goes beyond
just a little fun; it is useful (indeed needed) to be
good at almost anything including backgammon...BTW: here is the link to my Youtube videos, if you
want to take a look at; (and heaven forbid, to try
observing and learning something from them).https://www.youtube.com/@benboru1/videos
