I don't know why you led with 'you might find him entertaining'. He's annoying af.

Is there any data to suggest he's attracting new players ...well yes, but it's common sense. I do not have any hard core data, no surprise, how would I, to back this up. You can see the clicks that his videos get compared to others. You can see the rails at the tournament where he's deep. You can see whether or not they decide to feature him on a table. If they do, it's for a reason. Etc...

And as to what backgammon needs ... not is possible. Let's just leave it at that.
