What's Missing in Backgammon

For some reason I notice I find Kabrhel/Kassouf and other similar poker players entertaining to watch, but in backgammon I just find that kind of behavior annoying. Maybe it bothers me less in poker because it’s more plausible that they are just trying to get a read or influence the other player through their speech play, vs. in BG all you are accomplishing by needling the opponent is upsetting them to try to make them play worse?
I also think it’s easier for poker to develop characters with personalities because the primary camera angle for viewers is looking at faces instead of down at the table like in BG — it lets you see the players’ faces, emotions, reactions, etc, and the idea of them staring across the table at each other trying to get a live read naturally creates a lot of drama. Maybe backgammon streams and commentary could be set up to emphasize that aspect more. (I don’t really follow chess so can’t speak to your other example).
I agree though that this is missing from BG.
