What's Missing in Backgammon

"Ok, we all know there are a long list of things that make it near impossible for backgammon to regain its former glory"

Do we all agree that it would be good for backgammon to regain its former glory? If so, what is the main motivator for why? Here are some of what I suspect would be the main motivators (not saying I do or do not agree with them). Interested in what others will say is most important to them.

i) Would help you get to play tournaments more often and not getting enough tournament play as is.

ii) More respect, or for the top players actual fame, for what you spend a lot of time on.

iii) More people to discuss things with on forums such as these.

iv) More fish to make things more juicy.

v) Thinking it is good for society that backgammon with the intellectual skills it uses, be more widely known.

vi) Some reason not listed above.
