off topic: pool prizes and splitting

The 9-ball world championship is currently being played in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

250K for the winner, 100K for the runner up.

In backgammon it is not unlikely that such a prize distribution would lead to some kind of split, depending on who were playing in the final.

Does anyone know if splitting occurs in the pool world?
