I think it's normal to want to hit 6/1* here as it is the point that's stacked and when you have to leave a shot and can't slot a decent point normally you like taking away half the opp's roll. The issues here are we have no board, we aren't really stopping the opponent from doing anything, but most of all it's going to be a long game and throwing checkers deep/burning them just isn't what we want to do. We are virtually never going to play an attacking game from this position so thematically it's clumsy.
