Yeah, I was off by one in the shot count, but I don't think that's the real problem. Neither is thinking that blue wins some gammons when white already has six off.

Seems to me that the main feature is that white is TG after the misses and the gammon losses with the cube on four are too costly to ship it. I alluded to that, but didn't give it enough weight. IOW, it's not really a last roll position.
