The key takeaway for me is that while a fair number of rolls force blue to leave a double direct shot, only four of them are re-whips. (43 and 31)

That's not obvious to me, and I doubt I'd ever see that otb. But with only four shakes that force blue to eat a 16 cube, raising the stakes to 8 is the right idea.

That, and my assumptions about "last roll" positions are all wet here.
