White has two homeboard blots to shoot at, so that makes me think "pay now".

OTOH, we're ~20 pips behind so maintaining contact seems thematic.

I don't want to tear up the board, but 5/2 looks like a viable option that doesn't do too much damage and does a better job of maintaining contact than playing off the mid, and also doesn't expose 15 shots.
