We don't want to be hit on the 17pt (of course) but a big part of the equation is how many rolls does our opponent have where he actually hits us? As mentioned elsewhere, there's a lot of ace duplication involved where the opponent would rather make his 5 prime than to hit us. So not only are we hit less often than normal but when the opponent does roll some of those 5 prime making numbers, we now sometimes have a direct ace shot ourselves and a four point board. Hitting in that scenario would go a long way in our quest especially since the opponent wouldn't have the most flexible position being a little disconnected and short on natural spares.
