Ahead by almost 40 pips, we just want to bring the runners around without being hit. We don't need to block white, so switch points in the outfield to give more rolls that either move both blots to safety or allow us to minimize shots if we have to leave one.
10/9(2) fits the bill, but loses contact with the straggler. So, make the ten point. Once the ten point is occupied there's only two shots at a checker on either the 16 or 15 so which is better? I think 17 rolls to play the straggler to the ten is marginally better than 15, but 9s 11s and 12s also safety the runner from the 15 vs only 10s and 12s from the 16 so it seems to be the same either way, assuming I counted right.
I'll play the straggler to the 15 since I don't like 4/3. Not sure how big a difference it makes.
