7/6 forces white to hit with a 5 or a 6 and wrecks her timing. She has no board so it looks sound.

OTOH, it gives her a better chance to run off the gammon, so while it looks like the DMP play, gammons win the match here so I'll make the quiet play or 4/3.

At least it looks like volunteering the shot gives up some gammon chances. Not really sure about that...
