Blue wins this one almost all the time, so the "problem" is how to maximize gammmons.

We basically need doubles to win the gammon, and leaving four on the three seems to maximize the number of checkers we can take off with various doubles. So, 5/off. 33, 55, and 66 take off four, 44 takes of three, and 22 takes off two. Not seeing that level of "bonus" for other plays. But doubt it makes a large difference.
