XG didn't need a certain amount of time to confirm the best play. The rollout took that long because Nack set it to 1296 trials. However many trials (amongst other settings) is going to be the main factor on how long a rollout takes. The program just does what we tell it. If I put the same position in and tell XG to roll it out 129,600 trials for eg. it's going to do just that. It will also take about 2 hours to do so. That doesn't mean XG needed that amount of time to figure out what was right or wrong. It actually plays the games out to get the results, that's what the time is for.
