If we play 17/14, I think we only need to roll 7 or better next turn. That's 23 rolls. If we play 17/15 2/1, we have to roll 8 or better next turn, which is 19 rolls.

If I've counted correctly, 17/14 gives us better odds of saving the gammon, so don't slot the 1-point.
