It's rare we ever hold a high anchor + the 18 point 'anchor' and have the timing to keep both. Basically, we always get rid of the 18pt because with so many checkers back we're likely down in the race and generally speaking a high inner board anchor like the 20pt/21pt is more valuable than the exterior 18pt anchor.

Here I feel the important thing to recognize is the 18pt has to go. Once that's obvious we can move on to the how and why.
