At first glance it appears to be a choice between leaving a gap or being odd ended. And if the race were closer, this decision would be close.

But we're way behind and if white enters we might want to be hit to recirculate instead of just letting her waltz around the board. It won't lose any gammons, so I'll play 4/off 3/2.

Leaving two blots seems too loose, but 4/off 1/off is worth a look. I'll stick with 4/off 3/2.
