I would have timed out and lost while trying to decide between 3-2 and 5-3 or even 8-6 with the deuce. Because we enter with the 5... The choue captain found a better play.

I like your play. Solid when White has cleaning up to do. Winning chances seem worth extra gammon risk. I didnt really consider it. Oops. Whether it is right or wrong not looking at it is a blunder.
