eXtreme Gammon Version: 2.10
The reason is : Blue is trying to assess how he is going to win gammons and he is usually lured by the usual way, chasing a second checker by being hit, hitting back, waiting the crunch of the opponent’s homeboard, and so on.
But in this position, the gammon is ready to be picked up.
Because there are so many White blots far away from her homeboard, it is a blitz, not a priming game.
What if Blue is hit on the 1 point ? That is the difficult point. The trade-off between SW, GW, SL and GL favors the hitting play.
Variant : even if the White blot is stepped back on her 2 point, increasing the strength of her homeboard, the attacking play is still marginally better.
