I think you have several options. In the local tourney where I attend first 3 get prize money. If several have the same rank the exact place is decided by buchholz but the payment is by wins, e.g. 2 players hve 5 points 4 players have 4 points

then 1-2 get the added 1 and 2nd price money divided by 2 the 3-6 get 3rd price divided by 4
