Hello everyone. A few days ago I was going through opening replies.
Money Game
Blue to play 64White 160
Blue 167 GNUBg Id: 4HPhASLgc/ABMA:cAkaAAAAAAAA
XGID=-a--a-E-C---dE--ac-e----B-:0:0:1:64:0:0:0:0:10In this position, I chose 24/18 8/4*. It is wrong, and the correct play is to run (24/14).
Upon seeing the answer, I thought: "It makes sense. I am stripping my 8 point. Moreover, if White enters with 6x, he has a very good 6, hitting from the 13."
I then slightly modified the position (White's blot is on the 5-point, we roll 63). This position obviously cannot come up in live play on the second roll, but I wanted to test whether my intuition was correct.
Money Game
Blue to play 63White 159
Blue 167 GNUBg Id: 4HPhASHgc/ABMA:cIkZAAAAAAAA
XGID=-a---aE-C---dE--ac-e----B-:0:0:1:63:0:0:0:0:10In this case, hitting is better (24/18 8/5*), running is a ~0.030 mistake.
What has changed? Can I chalk it up to "the 5-point is more important than the 4-point"?
