You won't see if you don't look but don't worry, I'll show you with pictures.
> Perhaps you could clarify your question?
I'll address the resignation issue separately.
Here is a sample position:
![]()
Let's say I want to share it with you to discuss.
If I export it as an image and send it to you, you will see this totally useless image. There must be a mysterious reason for this feature...
![]()
If I export it to post on bgonline, you will see this.
![]()
It will also tell you "Best Cube action: No double / Beaver"
but you won't see that Blue already doubled and got beavered.
If you can visually decode the XGID to know that the second "B" stands for "beaver offered", you can tell that Blue/Player2 is to respond to a beaver and not initiate a first cube action.
If I send you the XGID=-b---AD-CA--cDaa-c-e----B-:0:0:-1:B:0:0:2:0:10
by email and if you paste it in your XG, you will see this:
![]()
Not much better than posting it to bgonline.
What if I export it to an XGP file that I can send you, so that you can open it in your XG? Well, here it is:
https://www.montanaonline.net/backgammon/share/Position5.xgp
If you download it and open it with XG, you will see this:
![]()
What da hell!? Lots a world class fancy garbage, useless for what we wanted to do, eh...?
While at it, let's look at what GB handles this. If you paste the above XGID in GB, you will get an error:
![]()
And then you will see this position:
![]()
Can you tell that Blue doubled, Green beavered, Blue needs to respond to the beaver?
What's interesting is that if you recreate the position in GB by playing from only the position ID, like this:
![]()
Then copy it and paste it to XG, you will see this:
![]()
Basically the same position as one previous GB position. Pasting it back to GB itself causes the same error and then the same one previous GB position.
What is also of concern to me is that XG seems to have inherited some bad genes from GB ;) but instead of showing an error like GB, it chooses to be quiet about it hoping that sleeping children won't wake up start crying... :)
