Somehow I had missed this post and saw it only after Stick menioned it in a recent post. BTW: these and last year's emails are at their blog page:
https://www.extremegammon.com/blog.aspx
Lots of ambitious words like "bigger future, next chapter, next generation, modern product, category-defining, next renaissance".
We'll see if they will deliver and when. Some commenters suggested that when XG3 is released, XG2 should be taken off the market. If they can actually create an XG3 so radically different and better, I'd even suggest that they should make XG2 freeware and its source code public, since it would no longer be of any value for anyone even to use it as a base for a new bot to compete with XG3 which will be so far ahead. Then we can look at the source code to see that it really wasn't cheating.. ;)
However much I would like to see such a BG bot, I just can't believe that they will be able to create one that doesn't use biased, inaccurate cube formulas and MET's to extrapolate equities. Not because of their inability to use modern harware and AI techniques but because they won't be able to change faith and break away from the gamblegammon flock.
