My autopilot at a glance (speedgammon) was to play 9/4* 9/5 . My reasoning would be to pile onto my five point to hold something longer when I am crunching, oneblot, keep the 6 blocked for that deuce point. If White enters lower we may have an extra roll to wait for White to roll a bad one. Although this play gives that deuce point checker air if we next roll a 6 anyway. It leaves only one blot vs 9/4 8/4 , although many fewer shots for the pointing play, 10 vs 16 (?). So now I think 9/4 8/4 for fewer immediate shots even with two blots.

But maybe its about immediate bad rolls and saving gammons. Maybe 6/1 5/1 . Not sure, since we likely leave a blot next roll anyway. But hope White rolls 33,44,55, 66 right away. Or at least not a 2, so we can maybe still roll forward, although then that made ace point really sucks.

Unsure for me, but 6/1 5/4 final answer.

9/4 8/4 or 9/4 9/5 not too bad, I think slight edge to 9/4 8/4 and at dmp I play that. But not sure on weighing 9 dancing numbers (bad) vs longer term more white root rolls. But I play 6/1 5/4 to save gammons while still hoping for a lucky win.
