It actually makes sense sometimes to not bet all your money on a daily double even though what's left is trivial. The reason being second place and third place receive different prize amounts so there is value in leaving yourself some money to play Final Jeopardy. Generally the second place player will have to bet all their money in FJ and first place will not so if second place misses you still ladder up in prize money.
