Why should there be any special strategies for those types of players? Doesn't the "one and only strategy of playing like XG" work...? ;)

An then what happened? I'm guessing that you lost against a "novice" and didn't like it. Otherwise, instead of asking for, you would be giving advice to others about what to do against those "aggressive novice" players?
Can you upload/share the match file or post it here in text format (or email it to me please)?
> Is the advice just, "wait a lot longer to cube players like this," or is there something more subtle or sophisticated to consider?
This subject interests me a lot. I have done many regular-bot vs mutant-bot and regular-bot vs regular-bot experiments (which don't even require any Python scripts) using GnuBG. You can read about my experiments and comments, on the subject in general, at my web site and/or run your own experiments.

If you share your match file, I would like to see if I can make some comments more specific to you match. (You don't need to engage with me beyond posting/emailing it, if you don't want to.)
